Toxtricity (Japanese: ストリンダー Strinder) is a dual-type Electric/Poison Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII.
It evolves from Toxel starting at level 30. The form it evolves into depends on its Nature. Mints will not alter its form it is evolved from.
- Toxel evolves into Toxtricity Amped Form if its Nature is Hardy, Brave, Adamant, Naughty, Docile, Impish, Lax, Hasty, Jolly, Naive, Rash, Sassy, or Quirky.
- Toxel evolves into Toxtricity Low Key Form if its Nature is Lonely, Bold, Relaxed, Timid, Serious, Modest, Mild, Quiet, Bashful, Calm, Gentle, or Careful.
Toxtricity has a Gigantamax form that was released on February 6, 2020.
Biology
Toxtricity is a bipedal, lizard-like Pokémon with two forms. Amped Form Toxtricity has a purple-colored body and a yellow underbelly. It has electric frills that extend from its front nose to its neck. It has black eyes with white sclera. It has two short horns on top with large horns behind both sides of eyes. On its back are two smaller electric spikes along with four purple horns on four yellow spots each. Six organs protrude on its chest. It wears a crescent-shaped body part with seven spikes located between the lower body. Both of its wrists have four spikes each. There are three long strips on its two legs. It also has a yellow underside on its three-fingered hands and underneath its feet.
Low Key Form Toxtricity has a purple-colored body with a light-blue underbelly. It has two electric frills extending from head to neck. Its eyes are black with white sclera. A fin-like horn is located on Toxtricity's head with two smaller horns behind both sides of the eyes. The back has four small purple horns on light blue spots. Four fused organs protrude on its chest. A crescent-shaped body part with seven spikes is located on the lower half of its body. The wrists have four spikes each. The legs each have three light blue stripes. The feet and hands each have a light blue underside.
Toxtricity's two forms share the same Gigantamax form. As Gigantamax Toxtricity, it has a larger appearance that resembles a combination of its two forms that walk on all fours. It now has a dark-purple body with a dark pink underbelly. It has yellow electric frills with light-blue electric frills on both sides from head to back. The pupils change to yellow stars with light blue sclera. Its two short horns on both sides while two longer horns between spikes and above eyes. Four bright pink horns can be seen on its back. The chest has two light-blue organs along with four yellow organs protruding. The crescent body changes to a bight pink and resembling two power conductor coils. The back spikes change to a tail with four spikes each. Three red clouds surround the tail. The wrist spikes change to bright pink as well. There are four dark pink stripes on its legs. The hands and feet have dark pink undersides.
Gigantamax Toxtricity attacking with the guitar-shaped electric mass
Amped Form Toxtricity are known to be short-tempered and extremely confident. This form aggressively attacks anything that makes eye contact with it.[1] It chugs stagnant water to absorb the toxin it contains. It then breaks down the poison in order to generate electricity.
Low Key Form Toxtricity are known to be selfish and have high regard towards their strength. Unlike its Amped form counterpart, Toxtricity prefers to taunt opponents into fighting it when making eye contact with them.[2] It can generate 15,000 volts of electricity. Low Key Toxtricity looks down at anything that would challenge it.
By clawing at its protrusion located on its chest, both forms of Toxtricity can generate electricity. The sound it makes resembles that of an electric string instrument; a standard guitar for Amped Form, and a bass guitar for Low Key Form.
Gigantamax Toxtricity's main weapon is the excessive energy it generates while Gigantamaxed. It can generate more electricity than a thundercloud. It can also store up to one million liters of poison. Due to the poison that penetrates its brain, Toxtricity has lost control of itself. It rampages across the land, contaminating it with toxic sweat which pours down like acid rain. Gigantamax Toxtricity can generate a gigantic mass of electricity shaped like a guitar from the electricity it stores. This mass is powerful enough to compose a giant crater.[3]
Toxtricity is the only known Pokémon capable of using the move Overdrive and exclusive G-Max Move G-Max Stun Shock.

Trivia
- No other Pokémon have the same type combination as Toxtricity and its pre-evolution.
- Toxtricity is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 502.
- All of the Natures that lower the Attack stat (Bold, Timid, Modest, Calm) only belong to Low-Key Form Toxtricity; likewise, all of the Natures that lower the Special Defense stat (Naughty, Lax, Naive, Rash) only belong to Amped Form Toxtricity.
Origin
Visually, Toxtricity resembles lizards, especially the ones from the Agama genus, like the Mwanza flat-headed rock agama and the Namib rock agama. Like Toxtricity, this genus is known for displaying a variety of bright colors and possessing spikes on the region of the ear.
Alternatively, Toxtricity may be based on newts, which are a type of salamander. Newts are poisonous, have rounded toes, and lizard-like bodies. The Northern Crested Newt in particular resembles Toxtricity, sharing its jagged crest, yellow underbelly, and spots resembling the chest protrusions. The spikes on the side of the Pokémon's head are reminiscent of the gills newts have in their larval stage.
It also appears to take inspiration from punk rock guitarists. Its Amped and Low Key forms resemble electric guitars and bass guitars, with the number of chest protrusions equaling the number of strings on each guitar (six and four, respectively) and, according to official bios, making a sound similar to that of the respective instrument when strummed by Toxtricity. [1][2] Gigantamax Toxtricity's habit of generating a guitar-shaped spark to attack may be also a reference to guitar smashing, a common act by guitarists at the end of a concert set or after the band's signature song. The frills on its head might be meant to closely resemble a mohawk hairstyle, while the spikes on its wrist referencing spiked collars and the part on its waist referencing a belt. The stripes on its legs are similar to torn pants.
Name origin
Toxtricity may be a combination of toxic and electricity. It may also be derived from toxicity.
Strinder may be a combination of strings (of a stringed instrument) and salamander.
